How I stay HEALTHY.

HOW I stay HEALTHY!

I am super busy all the time. Putting that out in real text isn’t to gather sympathy or awe.. it’s merely a fact. BUT aren’t we all busy? In all our own ways? SO here is how I stay healthy with a hectic schedule and loaded planner. Simple steps to prioritize self care and healthy habits because they play a vital role in staying energized and successful. 

1. Integrate nourishing and fueling foods. The biggest way.. ditch dairy, processed, sugar and all animal products. 100% plant based is super convenient, energizing, and has improved my health and wellness more than anything I have ever done, even when I was eating “strictly clean.” I even lost weight, my skin cleared, and I felt more radiant than ever. 

2. Get those greens in. Leafy greens are critical for healing and cleansing your blood. Kale, bok choy, collards, spinach, watercress.. just to name a few. 

3. Organic, organic, organic. Buying organic decreases the amount of residual toxins and pesticides. You are also buying and voting with your $$$ for healthy soil, cleaner water, nutrient rich produce, and eco friendly farming. Check out my easy Veggie Wash recipe for produce, especially when you are unable to buy organic. 

4. Chew da chow. Chewing will increase your levels of satiety and help your brain signal fullness. Hello, weight loss. Create optimal health with just chewing every mouthful about 30-40 times. This will also put a mind to mouth connection with your food. 

5. Drink water! Water’s health benefits are boundless. Even more so when it is filtered. Although, your water is put under rigorous treatment, that doesn’t mean the transportation through pipes to your faucet is pure. Pipes can be old, contain lead, and harbor pathogens that are resistant to treatment. An inexpensive option I use it the PUR brand. The replacement filters are reasonable too. I ALWAYS make it a priority to drink almost a gallon a day with my gym routine. The 8 glasses of 8oz is a good starting point for a minimum amount. 

6. Better with B12. Vitamin B12 is amazing for mental clarity, optimal neurological function, and stress levels. I think of B12 as “insurance” for my health. Opt for a synthetic binder free, organic, vegan, and non-GMO. 

7. Be a MOVER and a shaker. Being active, especially outdoors, always leaves me refreshed and energized. The connection with nature also enhances mental wellbeing and over all clarity. Find even the smallest ways to incorporate more movement throughout the day and you will notice a huge different in your health. 

8. Reducing Toxins in your haven, aka YOUR home. From chemical cleaners to organic compounds, our bodies are bombarded by toxins all day. A few of my personal practices include: buying furniture and fabrics that don’t contain toxic foam, flame retardants, or particle board. I use natural cleaners as often as I can and purchase organic, environmentally friendly dishwashing detergent and dishwasher fluid.

9.Meditation and Mindfulness. Health sometimes is nestled on top of our mental well being. Meditation and mindfulness everyday will arrange your thoughts positively and align your wellness. AND it doesn’t have to elaborate or hard. Every simple moment is an opportunity. 

10. Manage Stress! Stress wrecks your health. I use several different practices to manage stress. From daily “to do” strategies to effective planning and utilization of self care time, I decrease my stress one little bit at a time. Don’t let your stress management stress you out! Take it one step at a time.
