The Details on Detox VS Cleanse. What you should know.

Detox VS Cleanse:

It’s likely you have heard people say they’re going on a “detox” or trying out a new “cleanse.” Over the past few years, those words have become the hot new thing in the health and fitness industry. Detoxing this, cleansing that. BUY this, BUY that.

There are detoxing supplements, detoxing drinks, and detoxing diet plans. The same goes for cleansing. People are detoxing and cleansing to lose weight, boost energy, and enhance their health.

With so many people using the words “detox” and “cleanse” interchangeably, what’s the difference AND what do you really need to know?

Detox and cleanse are two very different things.

Detox: the purpose of a detox is to eliminate toxins from the body by turning them into waste and then eliminate that waste. The priority is to enhance your own body’s detoxification processes, mainly the liver.

Cleanse: The purpose of a cleanse is to clean out the digestive tract. This includes eliminating toxins, fecal matter, parasites, and fungi in the digestive tract.

You may benefit from a cleanse or detox if you are experiencing signs of toxicity: fatigue, headaches, joint pain, food sensitivities or allergies, mood swings, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, constipation, muscle aches, and muscle fatigue.

THIS CAN BE DONE without any expensive products, fancy, misleading drinks, or crazy food restrictions. You don’t have to starve or waste your money.

In fact, fasting or liquid-only cleanse/detox plans can cause health issues such as fatigue, headaches, irritability and vitamin deficiencies.

DETOX:

Eliminate meat and definitely avoid processed foods. Instead, replace those foods with fresh fruits and vegetables

TRY these options for DETOX instead:

  • Green tea: helps rid the body of free radicals.
  • Garlic: detoxes the liver
  • Onions: detoxes the liver
  • Ginger: detoxes the liver and aids digestion
  • Lemon: detoxes the digestive tract
  • Apples: detoxes the liver
  • Grape fruit: detoxes the liver, helps prevent kidney stones
  • Pineapple: cleanses the stomach
  • Kale: detoxes and flushes out the kidneys
  • Asparagus: detoxes the liver
  • Beets: detoxes the liver and helps rid body of free radicals

CLEANSE:

Cleaning out the digestive changes means making minor changes to eating. Start this by simply  eliminating food allergens, such as gluten, soy, dairy, processed foods, sugars, caffeine, and alcohol. Instead, stick to organic, whole foods.
